Over the next few months we will be chatting to all of the B7s team about their role in the business, as well as finding out some fun facts and favourite arenas at the festival.
On February's 'Meet The Team' we caught up with our Brand & Marketing Director Matt Hall:
Name: Matt Hall
Job Title: Brand & Marketing Director
Fun Fact: I once bench-pressed former AFC Bournemouth captain, Steve Cook, on a night out 🍒🏋️♂️😂
B7s Tenure: 8 years
Tell us more about your role in detail?
I head up and am the main lead for all digital marketing, creative, design, social media & content output across Bournemouth 7s Festival whilst leading a small team throughout the year. It’s a broad role where each week is different, from creating music stage concepts one day to delivering marketing strategies to hit key objectives the next. The best thing about my role is having the freedom to try new things, lead & learn, which together with a strong tight-knit team continues to help the business grow.
What are you most looking forward to for 2023?
That’s a tough one as we have some amazing additions being added for 2023, but sadly most of these are top secret. 🤫 Therefore, I’ll go with the new sports: Cheerleading and 3x3 Basketball. We’ve been wanting to add a new sport for a while and we feel these could really add something incredible to this year's atmosphere, not just for the competing teams but for spectators too.
Tell us a funny story you’ve experienced from the office / B7s over the years?
I’m not sure this is the best platform to share the story I want to share 😂 so it’s best to save that for the pub over a few beers. However, one story I can share is from B7s 2016. This was the first year we EVER had a headline artist and my colleague (now Managing Director) Paul, got slightly over-excited and lost the key to Fatman Scoop’s dressing room. 15 minutes before he was due to arrive, there was me, a very worried Paul & our placement student Jordan kicking through a green room door and then quickly repairing it with a few screws shortly after. Thankfully, we had everything set just in time for Fatman Scoop’s arrival in from the US, who was none the wiser to the incredible amount of stress & chaos that had just unfolded behind the scenes.
Always have spare keys.

It has to be BubbleLuv!
