Bournemouth 7s Festival has an incredibly dynamic and creative team and over the coming months we’d like to introduce you to the people behind the World’s Largest Sport and Music Festival.
In this ‘Meet The Team’, we caught up with our Events Director:
Name: Paul Ashurst
Role: Events Director
Fun Fact: If I didn’t work in Events, I would probably try to be a professional darts player
B7s Tenure: 6 Years
Can you tell us a little more about your role as Events Director in more detail?
Yeah of course, where do I start. Well no day is exactly the same, and I absolutely love that! There’s very little I’ve not turned my hand to within B7s at some point which is the beauty of working within a small team and delivering one large event per year. I believe you have to be extremely open minded, be versatile and be willing to turn your hand to almost anything at short notice.
A couple of things that I’ve always looked after is; maintaining and building relationships with our contractors & suppliers, booking the festival entertainment, and being involved with the safety planning of the event. A new area over the past 12 months that I’ve really enjoyed is looking after sponsorship and brand partners, working with them to elevate the B7s customer experience is really rewarding.
What is your top highlight of Bournemouth 7s Festival?
Winning a UK Festival Award in 2017 - That was huge for our team!!
What are you most looking forward to for 2022?
Having more than 42 days to plan the festival this year 😂. Last year was tough on our team, so I just hope as we move back towards our traditional dates it will feel a bit more normal and we can then maybe enjoy a festival or two ourselves..
