A GUIDE TO HELP ANSWER ALL OF YOUR QUERIES AHEAD OF BOURNEMOUTH 7s 2023

RUGBY FAQs
When will I receive my ticket?

All Team tickets will be emailed to the captains of each team in early May. This includes any upgrades individuals would have purchased. You can either bring e-tickets or print them off and distribute them to your team members.


NO TICKET = NO ENTRY

How long are games?

All rugby matches (group games and knockout stages) will be 7 minutes each way.

Can I play for more than one team?

Only if you are granted permission from the Tournament Manager. This will not be given unless the player is deemed to be playing in a stronger cup competition that she/he was originally registered.

What happens if our team is late for a game?

Due to the amount of teams which are participating at the festival, turn-around times are very quick. If you are late, this will result in a loss as this will effect the days schedule.

What regulations are in place?

All Bournemouth 7s rugby games will be played according to the World Rugby Laws and Regulations with 7 and 10-a-side variations as outlined by World Rugby.

Bournemouth 7s may implement specific rules which have been authorised by the RFU and in this instance, information will be circulated to all teams.

Our team is travelling from outside of England, will we be insured?

If you are a RFU affiliated rugby team you will automatically be covered to play at the festival through your club’s insurance.
 


All non-affiliated teams are now covered as they are pre-approved by the RFU to be covered by the 
RFU’s Accidental Death and Permanent Total Disability Insurance, provided the match or tournament is played in accordance with the RFU Rules and Regulations and the World Rugby Laws of the Game.
 


If you are a team or player based outside of England, you will need to provide confirmation of approval from your national federation in order to participate at the Festival.

Do you provide referees?

Yes! Bournemouth 7s are proud to be working with the London Society of Referees who provide all referee provisions over the weekend.

NETBALL FAQs
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY TICKET?

How long are games?

Each netball match will be 7 minutes each way, in 17 minute slots, including the finals. This will be the same across 1 and 2 day cups.

WHAT HAPPENS IF OUR TEAM IS LATE FOR A GAME?

Due to the amount of teams which are participating at the festival, turn-around times are very quick. If you are late, this will result in a loss as this will effect the days schedule.

DO WE NEED INSURANCE?

If you are not affiliated to England Netball, then we heavily encourage that you look into this by visiting the England Netball Insurance Page.

Please be aware that Bournemouth 7s accepts no responsibility for any injuries that occur during the National Netball Festival and if you are not affiliated to England Netball, you will be competing in the festival at your own risk.

First Aid provisions will be available throughout the weekend and can be accessed by contacting the tournament or event staff.

CAN WE ENTER A MIXED TEAM?

Yes absolutely! We have launched a brand new mixed cup competition which is played all day Sunday.

WHAT RATIO OF MEN:WOMEN IS ALLOWED FOR MIXED NETBALL CUPS?

Mixed teams must have at least 2 males or females in the playing team at all times.

WHAT ARE THE RULES AND REGULATIONS?

Standard Netball Cups

All games will be played according to the IFNA Rules apart from specific Bournemouth 7s Rules – These will be circulate ahead of the festival to team captains.

Mixed Netball Cup

All games will be played according to the MNA Rules apart from specific Bournemouth 7s Rules. With regards to ratios, please see below:

  • Each team may have no more than 4 players of either sex on court at a time (i.e. the team may be made up of 4 men and 3 women or 3 men and 4 women).
  • Only one player of each sex is allowed in each third, with the exception of the centre third, where the third player may be of either sex (i.e. GK and GD must be of opposite sexes, as must GA and GS, and no more than two of WA, C and WD may be of the same sex).

HOW LONG ARE THE GAMES?

Games are 12 minutes one way including the final.

CAN I PLAY FOR MORE THAN ONE TEAM?

Only if you are granted permission from the Tournament Manager. This will not be given unless the player is deemed to be playing in a stronger cup competition than she/he was originally registered.

WHAT HAPPENS IF OUR TEAM IS LATE FOR A GAME?

Due to the amount of teams which are participating at the festival, turn-around times are very quick. If you are late, this will result in a forfeit (loss) as this will effect the days schedule.

WHAT LAWS AND REGULATIONS ARE IN PLACE?

All games will be played according to the 2017 FIH Rules of Hockey, apart from specific Bournemouth 7s Rules.

DO YOU PROVIDE REFEREES/UMPIRES?

Yes, umpires will be provided for you by the tournament manager.

WHAT RATIO OF MEN:WOMEN IS ALLOWED FOR MIXED CUPS?

Mixed teams must have at least 2 male or females in the playing team at all times.

CAN WE WEAR FANCY DRESS?

Yes you can wear fancy dress for the Hockey cups as long as it is safe to play in and your team kit is still clearly visible.

DO WE NEED INSURANCE?

Players are responsible for sourcing their own insurance should they deem necessary. Bournemouth 7s accept no responsibility for any injury caused by participating in the Hockey cups. First Aid provision is available throughout the weekend and can be accessed by contacting the tournament or event staff.

DODGEBALL FAQs
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY TICKET?

HOW LONG ARE GAMES?

Each match is made up of 1 set, timed at 2 minutes. Once the time is up, the team with the most players still in the game wins and receives a point.

HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE ON A TEAM?

Each Dodgeball game must begin with 7 players.

CAN WE WEAR FANCY DRESS?

Yes, Dodgeball cups are very social and fancy dress is encouraged!

WHAT IF THE GAME ENDS IN A TIE?

If it’s a tie, the team that gets the next person out wins.

FITNESS GAMES FAQs
When will I receive my ticket?

What are the 2023 movement standards?

Our 2023 Fitness Games movement standards can be found here.*

Please note: all movement standards across Elite, Open & Novo are set as a guide only and can be subject to change.

What is the format of the competition?

Each team will have to complete four workout challenges across different zones.

All workouts will be roughly 20 minutes in length.*

Athletes will be required to demonstrate their all-round fitness capabilities across the key pillars of strength, speed, power and endurance.

What categories will be available?

Our Fitness Games are open to athletes of all levels. From newbies to elite athletes, there is a competition available to all. 


We have competitions for both pairs and teams of 4 available.

Do you have free drinking water available?

There are drinking water points throughout the Arena which are free to use and there to keep you hydrated over the weekend.

CAN I RESELL MY TICKET IF I CAN NO LONGER ATTEND THE FESTIVAL?

Players tickets CANNOT be sold on resale platforms as they are specific to the sport and the team. You will need to sell it directly to somebody who would like to take your place on your team.

What equipment do I need to bring?

All equipment will be provided for our teams so all you will need is your workout kit and suitable footwear.

TOUCH RUGBY FAQs
When will I receive my ticket?

All Team tickets will be emailed to the captains of each team in early May. This includes any upgrades individuals would have purchased. You can either bring e-tickets or print them off and distribute them to your team members.

How long are games?

All Touch Rugby matches (group games and knockout stages) will be 15 minutes in total.

What happens if our team is late for a game?

Due to the amount of teams which are participating at the festival, turn-around times are very quick. If you are late, this will result in a loss as this will effect the days schedule.

Do you provide referees?

Yes! Bournemouth 7s will be providing all referees for Touch Rugby.

What equipment do I need to bring?

All equipment will be provided for you. All you will need is your playing kit, as well as your playing boots.

What ratio of men:women is allowed for mixed touch cups?

Mixed teams must have at least 2 males or females in the playing teams at all times. 

CHEERLEADING FAQs
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY TICKET?

All Team tickets will be emailed to the captains of each team in early May. This includes any upgrades individuals would have purchased. You can either bring e-tickets or print them off and distribute them to your team members.

NO UNDER 18s

HOW LONG ARE THE PERFORMANCES?

Each of the performances will last 2 - 2.5 min

WHAT HAPPENS IF OUR TEAM IS LATE FOR A PERFORMANCE?

Due to the amount of teams which are participating at the festival, turn-around times are very quick. If you are late, this will result in a score of 0 being given.

WHAT REGULATIONS ARE IN PLACE?

All Cheerleading at Bournemouth 7s will be using the IASF Cheer Legality Rules 2021-2023. 


You will then be scored using a Bournemouth 7s specific score sheet, which will be released to our teams later in the year. 

WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THE COMPETITION?

Cheerleading at Bournemouth 7s will be performed in two categories:


  • Stunt & Tumble
  • Non-Tumble 

Teams must have a minimum of 10 people and a maximum of 27 people.


Each team will have 2-2.5 mins for their performance which will then be scored by the judges. Based on these results there will then be a grand final between the highest scoring teams to decide the winner. 

BASKETBALL FAQs

HOW LONG ARE GAMES?

All 3x3 Basketball games will be 10 minutes in length, or the first team to reach 21 points.

CAN I PLAY FOR MORE THAN ONE TEAM?

Only if you are granted permission from the Tournament Manager. This will not be given unless the player is deemed to be playing in a stronger cup competition that she/he was originally registered.

WHAT HAPPENS IF OUR TEAM IS LATE FOR A GAME?

WHAT REGULATIONS ARE IN PLACE?

All Basketball at Bournemouth 7s will be played under the FIBA 3x3 rulings.


You will be allowed a squad of 4 players but may also bring along any spectators as part of your team. 

WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED?

Bournemouth 7s will be providing all referees and table judges, as well as equipment such as balls and scoreboards etc. 


All you will need to bring is your kit!

WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THE COMPETITION?

Day 1 of the competition will be when all of your group games are played. Once these are finished you will have your final group position. 

Day 2 will then host our finals day which will be a knockout format, as well as our Dunk and 3 point contests!
