FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW LONG ARE GAMES?
All 7-a-side football matches (group games and knockout stages) will be 7 minutes each way.
HOW MANY PLAYERS CAN WE HAVE PER TEAM?
There is NO limit to the number of players you can add to your booking. However, each competing team must field no more than 10 players (7 starting, 3 subs) during the tournament, unless they have permission from the tournament organiser.
ARE WE ALLOWED ROLLING SUBS?
Yes, all subs will be rolling - with each team will consisting of a minimum of 10 players, with 3 subs.
WHAT SURFACE ARE THE GAMES PLAYED ON?
The tournament will take place on a 3G surface.
ALL players must wear 'moulded' boots on the 3G playing surface and not metal studs, trainers or astroturfs.
WHAT FOOTWEAR ARE WE REQUIRED TO WEAR?
ALL players must wear 'moulded' boots on the 3G playing surface and not metal studs, trainers or astroturfs.
DO I NEED TO WEAR SHINPADS?
Yes - all players competing MUST wear shinpads. This is a compulsory requirement.
WILL WE BE REQUIRED TO WEAR MATCHING SHIRTS?
Yes - all competing teams MUST wear matching coloured tops.
Should two teams shirts clash, we will supply bibs for the duration of the match.
WHAT IS THE TOURNAMENT FORMAT?
Teams will battle through a group stage, into an overall knockout competition.
WHAT ARE THE RULES?
Players:
Each team must field 7 players (including 1 goalkeeper)
Points:
3 for a win
1 for a draw
0 for a loss
Subs:
Max 3 subs, unlimited rolling use.
Knockouts:
If the game ends in a draw, the match result will be decided on a penalty shootout
Other:
Penalties are awarded for fouls in the penalty area
There are no offsides
Throw-ins are taken from the sideline and must be thrown over the head
Corner Kicks are taken from the corner flag
Teams tied on points at the end of the league portion will be ranked by the following: 1. 'Head to head' encounters. 2. Goal difference (+/-) 3. Goals Scored and 4. Goals Against
If a game needs to be recorded as a forfeit, then a 3-0 score will be awarded to the other team.
A goalkeeper cannot pick up a ball which has been directly passed back to them by a team-mate.
CAN I PLAY FOR MORE THAN ONE TEAM?
Only if you are granted permission from the Tournament Manager. This will not be given unless the player is deemed to be playing in a stronger cup competition that she/he was originally registered.
CAN WE ADD EXTRA PLAYERS & UPGRADES AT A LATER DATE?
Yes! Book your team entry today and add your upgrades & additional players at a later date.
Please note: prices of team entry & upgrades increase with each tier. The earlier you book, the more you save.
DO YOU PROVIDE REFEREES?
Yes! Bournemouth 7s Festival will provide all referee provisions over the weekend.
WHAT HAPPENS IF OUR TEAM IS LATE FOR A GAME?
Due to the amount of teams which are participating at the festival, turn-around times are very quick. If you are late, this will result in a loss as this will affect the days schedule.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY TICKET?
All Team tickets will be emailed to the captains of each team in early May. This includes any upgrades individuals would have purchased. You can either bring e-tickets or print them off and distribute them to your team members.
