Frequently Asked Questions.
What are the Dance Competition rules?
These rules are designed to ensure a fair and consistent competition for all teams. The judging panel will be fully briefed on these guidelines, and all teams must adhere to them.
INTERMEDIATE CATEGORY:
JAZZ:
• No penchés
• No fouetté turns
• No triple pirouettes
• No scissor leaps
STREET:
• No head spins
• No acrobatics or gymnastics
• No tumbling
The moves listed above are considered advanced skills.
If your routine includes any of these elements, it will be judged in the Advanced division, even if it was originally entered under the Intermediate category.
ROUTINE REQUIREMENTS:
• Each routine must include a min. of 6 and a max. of 26 dancers.
• Routine length must be between 2 and 4 minutes.
• All choreography must be original - the use of reused or borrowed choreography is strictly prohibited.
MUSIC:
You may use any music of your choice, it can be a single track or a mix of songs and must be submitted in MP4 format.
TITLES:
Choreographers will need to submit a title for their routines, along with their music.
SYNOPSIS:
Choreographers may choose to submit a short synopsis to be read alongside their routine title. This can help communicate the message or theme of the performance t o both the audience and judges. Synopses should be no longer than 50 words.

Can we bring spectators?
Yes, of course.
All spectators must purchase a valid Bournemouth 7s Festival ticket to gain access to the festival.
Can we perform in more than one category?
Teams may enter multiple categories, but are limited to the number of routines permitted within each category.
Will there be changing rooms?
Bournemouth 7s will provide suitable changing facilities on site, located close to the performance area. Please note that this is a festival environment, so facilities will be practical and designed to meet performers' needs throughout the event.
Where is the competition located?
Our Dance Comp will take place on our biggest stage: The Big Top.
Dance Facilities include:

- State-of-the-art production
- 3,000 capacity Big Top tent
Can we add extra players & upgrades late?
Yes! Book your team entry today and add your upgrades & additional players at a later date.
Please note: prices of team entry & upgrades increase with each tier. The earlier you book, the more you save.
When will I receive my ticket?
All Team tickets will be emailed to the captains of each team in early May. This includes any upgrades individuals would have purchased. You can either bring e-tickets or print them off and distribute them to your team members.
